Feast, a weekend long celebration of the best of Westcountry food and drink comes to Taunton at the end of September, so get your diaries marked.
The event will be launched at The Castle Hotel with a dinner by renowned chef, Michael Caines on Friday 29th September, and a second dinner on the Saturday evening with four Great British Menu chefs – Dominic Chapman, Josh Eggleton, Jude Kereama and Emily Watkins. Throughout Saturday and Sunday expect to find Castle Green packed full of local food and drink suppliers arranged by Click Your Heels and By Invitations Events.
In the Castle Hotel you’ll find a demonstration kitchen bringing together some of the South West’s best chefs, keen to share their tips and recipes with you, compered by Steve Ashworth, a well-known foodie face in the South West and Jo Rees of Food Magazine, Feast’s official media partner. In other areas of the hotel you’ll be able to enjoy a variety of talks including ‘Five Medicines from your Spice Rack’ from medical herbalist Laura Carpenter, and ‘Foraging’ with Greg Power from Blightly Bushcraft, who will talk about some of the wonderful treats to be found in our woodlands and hedgerows.
If you’re a hands-on type of person then look out for the workshops. There will be something for everyone – wine tasting with Wraxhall Vineyard and the chance for you to make your own sausages with Ivan Thompson of Sausage Shed are just two of the exciting themes.
There will be plenty of fun for the whole family with children’s activities taking place in the hotel’s garden, whether you want to make a healthy snack or turn your hand to painting one.
