My staff seem to spend a lot of my time checking their own social media accounts. How do I stop this waste of work time?
Figures suggest that 6% of British Workers spend over an hour a day on social networking sites whilst they are at work and this could potentially cost UK employers up to £14 billion in “lost time” a year.
Therefore it is important that employers have strict protocols, guidance and policies on being able to use social media in the workplace so that they do not risk negative repercussions in terms of productivity.
Don’t do what one Company did, which was ban access to these sites and then wonder why their staff were spending a lot of time in the loo with their smart phones!
